The 2019 Barbados Hill Challenge which is organised by the Barbados Hiking Association will take place on Wednesday 1st May 2019.
Here are a selection of photos of those who took part in this annual May Bank holiday event on Tuesday 1st May 2018.
Barclays Park before the 6am start.
The first hill to Cambridge is just 90 meters - enough to get the heart working. Overall the course climbs over 1000 meters.
The first runner to reach Cambridge.
The first water station at Chalky Mount waiting for runners.
The first lady to reach Chalky Mount
Sarah (220) and Dominique (281)
This was a short road section. In a few meters they will be off road for most of the event.
The first to reach Coco-nut Grove.
Runners passing the Banana Fields at Frizers. After entering the forest they were faced with a very hot and steep 100 Meter climb.
After leaving the forest everyone was glad for the water and the cooling breeze. Another 30 minutes and they will finish.
Once you made it out of the forest there is only one small hill and then a long run down to the finish at the coast.
The only Father and Daughter on the event. They are the second and third generation of hikers!
When you get to the top you have that feeling of accomplishment - and rightfully so.
Age is just a number.
George Medford. "What is the fuss about? It is just another hike!"
