BajanThings pay Stripe and PayPal a variable transaction fee of 3% to 5%, depending on the size of the donation and location of the donor plus a small fixed transaction fee. The average fee is 4.5%, which means BajanThings typically receives 95.5% of the value of any donation.
For full transparency, BajanThings receive a small contribution to operating costs from Google AdSense for serving display ads on BajanThings. The annualised revenue from Google AdSense does not cover the costs of maintaining BajanThings.com, but it does make a contribution to operating cost.
At the end of August 2024, based on visitor feedback, we turned off the display ads on BajanThings that appeared within the content areas of posts, and only had peripheral ads in the header and footer and in the right sidebar.
In August 2025 we reverted to having ads within the content area of BajanThings post.
Simply put the the income generated from the ads within the content area of posts was more than the donations we received!
Thank you for your support and thank you to all those that have made and continue to make donations that help support BajanThings. Your donations are much appreciated and help off-set the operating cost of running BajanThings.com.
