Baby Burts trialling for the Windies cricket team!

Baby Burts (Connie as he is known at school) is 10. Baby Burts is half Bajan and dreams of playing cricket for the Windies and emulating Garfield Sobers who hit six sixes in an over at a county cricket match on 31st August 1968 in Cardiff.  Baby Burts is also half Scottish and dreams of playing rugby for Scotland too!

Today Baby Burts had a lot resting on his shoulders.  Could he change the outcome from a draw to a win for the Kingswood House School U11 Colts A cricket team who were playing Belmont School.

The Colts U11 play Twenty20 cricket.  Belmont School batted first.  Kingswood House School were left chasing 126 runs.

Baby Burts was playing sixth man.  In the last over Kingswood House School equalised the score.  On the penultimate ball, fifth man was run out.  With one ball to go could sixth man pull off a win?  Enjoy the video of sixth man’s shot off the last ball.

Last ball…

Well done Kingwood House School.  Great shot Baby Burts.  Maybe the Windies will notice you and put you on their watch list!

Here is Baby Burts Bajan hero Garfield Sobers‘ hitting six sixes in an over in the Glamorgan vs Nottinghamshire county cricket match in Swansea on 31 August 1968.  That day Sobers became the first batsman ever to hit six sixes in a single over off six consecutive balls in first-class cricket. The feat consisted of five clean hits for six and one six where the ball was caught by Roger Davis who fell over the boundary rope, giving Sobers another six. The very unfortunate bowler was Malcolm Nash.
