BajanThings is three years old this month. We published our first page on18th December 2014 and launched the site over the 2014 Christmas break.
BajanThings is mostly about things that we are passionate about, events that we have witnessed, or told by those who did and the life of some of the people who were born in, or had connections to, Barbados and made their mark on the world stage and hiking in Barbados and overseas.
2017 has been a watershed year for BajanThings. We started out in 2015 with a handful of family and friends subscribers. That grew to 192 by the end of 2016 and as we end 2017 BajanThings is nearing 600 subscribers!
Most of our readers are from Barbados (30%), USA (27%), UK (19%), Canada (13%) and other places where Bajans Live (11%).
The key change to the BajanThings website in 2017 is that we have moved from a http:// to a https:// locked format. William retires at the end of the 2017 from his day job at Mobile & Marine Systems, the radio communication business he built over the last forty years. You can expect some more in-depth posts in 2018.
This year St. Philip, Barbados in the 1950’s & 1960’s. A very brief recollection of the people and events was our top post. Other notable posts were the: Torpedoing of the Cornwallis in Carlisle Bay, Barbados, 11th September 1942: 75th Anniversary, Hurricane Janet and British Ship Scottish Star Torpedoed – 19th February 1942. These four posts used a similar interview style that seems to have been popular.
We wish to thank all those who have encouraged BajanThings to continue writing, those who gave us information, our guest contributors and those who write to us when we miss a comma or make a spelling error. Thank you. We hope that we will be able to continue to provide articles that educate, enlighten and inform. We will continue to stay away from political and religious topics.
Below is a table of all the BajanThings posts to date and the number of unique visitors each post has had. You can change the table sort order by clicking the arrows at the end of each of the header columns. You can sort the table alphabetically or by views or by post date. You can also filter the table based on a search term if you are looking for something specific. You can also click on any of the posts and the post will open in a new tab in your browser.

Congratulations William and Peter. Looking forward to more in 2018.
We are veteran “snowbirds” who come to “our island” (Rockley area)–and this will be our 20th year. We stay 6-8 weeks, and enjoy this website immensely. It keeps us in touch and informed of our beautiful “home away from home”. It is a LOT of work to maintain this….so, please know we appreciate your efforts and expertise.
MERRY CHRISTMAS from Jo & Greg.
