Barbados Hiking Association 2019 Hill Challenge

Sunrise. The 2019 Hill Challenge started at 6.03am on Wednesday 1st May 2019.  Here are a selection of photos of those who took part in this annual May Bank holiday event.

Photos taken by William who was manning two water stops. The first was at Chalky Mount by the old school.  After the last walker passed we moved to the top of the hill overlooking Frizers plantation.

Starting at Barclays Park at 6am the Hill Challenge is 13 miles over some of the roughest and toughest terrain in Barbados.  It takes competitors over over Cambridge, Les Beholden, Chalky Mount, Haggatts, Dark Hole, Bruce Vale, Mount All, Rasta Patch, Boarded Hall, Spa Hill, Frizers and Springfield, with elevation gains of more than 1,000 meters.  Competitors have 6 hours to complete the challenge.

The 2020 Barbados Hill Challenge which is organised by the Barbados Hiking Association will take place on:  Friday 1st May 2020.

St. Philip, Barbados in the 1950s & 1960s. A very brief recollection of the people and events updated to include details of the homemade helicopter built by Three Houses factory manager Bob Reece.
